What have I been doing?
Well I've been working hard on a freelance project (the children's poems project mentioned earlier in this blog) but alongside that I made this project: An 8-Bit Perler Bead scene of Super Smash Brothers. It's a present for my girlfriend, and it's a mixed media project using both Perler Beads and Acrylic paint on canvas.
In the coming days I'll update on the animation project.

Freelance Mockup
I'm trying to get myself a freelance job animating for children's poems, and one of them is called "Mary Melissa Miranda McGurk." It's about a little girl who love homework so much it makes her head explode. No, seriously.
I just sent this off the the guy, and I'm hoping he decides to go through with this project. Fingers crossed!

I'm animating again
Channel Frederator is putting on a contest:

I'm entering it as a way to get my ass going again with art. So far I think mine's gonna clock in at around 4.5 seconds, depending on how long I hold on some frames. Used up the last of my punched animation paper, though. Since I can't spend $600 to buy a punch so I can animate using staples printer paper, I'll have to break down and buy an actual brick of it from an online place.
Scanning in 40 different frames is a pain in the ass, no matter how much time you have or how much music you have.

why didn't anyone tell me sooner
So last night I head down to Channel Frederator's Drinking and Drawing in NYC, and after spending nearly a half-hour walking in a circle in downtown Manhattan, I found the bar and was assaulted by a room filled with minimal light and a stage piled high with drawing tables.
As the night went on, the most common question asked was "Are you an animator?" followed by "You got a Blog?"
I have a livejournal, but that doesn't really count.
Apparently the best way to network with animators online is to have a blogspot blog and just comment comment comment on other animator's blogs. Shit, it was on half of the business cards I got last night. So here it is.
A quick background on me: I graduated from the College For Creative Studies in December of 2006, spent most of 2007 floating from retail job to retail job, until finally getting laid off a few weeks ago. Fun.
I guess I'll have to do what most people do and upload art and crap here. For now you get a photo of Karl, Claude, and Tom from last night, which is my favorite of the three I took.
PS: The title of the blog is a line from the cartoon El Tigre, which is such a good show it hurts. Also related, the Taquito I just took a bite out of had no meat or cheese in it. Mmmmm, dry corn tortillia.
